Following the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) remarks regarding the Abbas Town blast suo motu notice, the Sindh IGP and DIG East have been removed by the home ministry from their posts.
According to media reports, both the officers have been directed to report to the Establishment Division.
However, Sindh Police have said that they had so far not received any notification in this regard.
Earlier, during hearing of the case at Karachi registry of the Supreme Court, the bench headed by Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed anger over the performance of the police and the Rangers and held both equally responsible for Karachi unrest.
“The IG and others should have tendered resignations by now if they had any shame,” the CJ remarked.
