Old homes staffers await 14 months’ salary

Hundreds of employees of model children homes and model old homes working under Social Welfare Department on Tuesday announced set-up of a protest camp in front of the parliament house, demanding payment of salaries and job regularisation.
According to the employees hailing from across Punjab, they had not been paid their salaries for the last 14 months.
The employees announced the decision during a protest demonstration in front of Rawalpindi Press Club. Muhammad Riyaz, Muhammad Zaman, Muhammad Tariq, Hammad Ahmed Kiani, Zain ul Abidin and others were leading the protest demonstration.
The protesters said the employers had not paid them for the last 14 months, forcing them to resort to protest. They said they would stage a protest camp in front of the parliament house to inform the government about their miseries.
Meanwhile, they demanded of the government to pay their salaries and regularise their contract.
