NA discusses Karachi law and order situation

The National Assembly on Tuesday debated on an adjournment motion moved by Wasim Akhtar regarding Sunday’s two bomb blasts at Abbas Town in Karachi in which 48 innocent people were killed and dozens were injured.

Initiating the debate‚ the mover Wasim Akhtar said that no measures had been adopted to stop the terrorist activities in Karachi despite the fact that there were intelligence reports about terrorist threats. Wasim said that the Abbasi Townn blasts were not sectarian in nature but are a part of “a pre planned conspiracy”. He criticized the government’s inaction and silence by different political and religious parties as a tragedy.

He said that elements in Karachi are advising Karachites to protect their lives by themselves. He said such moves would only beget more insecurity in the provincial capital.

Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif said that Shitte communities are being targeted under a well-thought-out conspiracy. He referred to terrorist incidents in Quetta and Karachi in this regard.

He criticized that law enforcement personnel including rangers for reaching late at ground zero. He said law and order in the country has gone from bad to worse over the last five years.

Taking part in the debate‚ Noor Alam criticized Punjab Government for not taking action against terrorists and alleged that Punjab ministers have links with banned outfits.

He assured that PPP will hold elections on time and hoped that PPP will again form the government after winning the elections.

Himayatullah Mayar strongly condemned the terrorist incident in Karachi. He said it is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to take action against terrorists.

He said a that clear strategy should be drafted and adopted to eliminate terrorism from the country. He said that negotiations with the Taliban should be within the ambit of the law and the constitution.

Sardar Bahadur Khan Sihar said that it is the responsibility of the provincial governments to maintain law and order. He stressed the need for operations against the hideouts of terrorists.

  1. A real noorakushti between MQM and PPP… As usual, PTI is dumb folded on this noorakushti!!! MQM's Governor, Ishratul Ebad, still occupies the official position for more than 10 years.
