ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif told Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah in writing that he would be stepping into practical politics since his agreement to not participate in politics for 10 years had ended.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif called on the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Pakistan Ibrahim Al Ghadir in Islamabad and handed over the letter. Sources said the letter contained information about Nawaz’s active role in future politics.
The Sharif brothers had made an accord with the Saudi government through erstwhile army chief General (r) Pervez Musharraf that they would not take part in politics for 10 years following 1999 military coup and their subsequent exile to Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi ambassador confirmed the meeting with Shahbaz and that the CM had passed him a letter to the king.
