Shahjehan Yusuf, Aasma Mamdot swear allegiance to Nawaz

Two prominent politicians Sardar Shahjehan Yusuf and Aasma Mamdot have announced to join Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).

Sardar Shahjehan Yusuf, a senior leader of PML-Q met Mian Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Monday and announced his decision to join the PML-N. He expressed his full confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif and said that PML-N is the only party that can fulfill the expectations of the people.

While welcoming Shahjehan Yusuf back into the fold of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif said that his party would utilize all the resources to take the country out of crises.

Aasma Mamdot has also joined (PML-N after abandoning membership of the PML-F recently.

Aasma Mamdot belongs to two key political families of the country including Mamdot and Lagharis.

Her grandfather Nawab Shahnawaz Mamdot was Punjab’s President of the ‘real’ Muslim League in 1938 and he played an important role in foundation of Pakistan.

Nawab Iftikhar Hussain Khan, uncle of Aasma Mamdot, served as first Chief Minister of Punjab after creation of Pakistan and later on was appointed as Sindh Governor.

Aasma Mamdot’s mother Afifa Mamdot had been an elected MPA of Punjab Assembly from 1988 to 1990 and also served as Federal Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Special Education.

Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa is also an uncle of Aasma Mamdot and former President of Pakistan, Sardar Farooq Laghari, was her cousin.
