The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday barred the Ministry of Religious Affairs from allocating quota to Hajj tour operators till further orders.

During hearing of a case pertaining to Hajj Policy 2013, the LHC barred the ministry from allotment of quota to the Hajj tour operators. Moreover, the court issued notices to the federation and the Ministry of Religious Affairs for March 18 and adjourned the hearing.

Meanwhile the LHC on Monday also dismissed a petition seeking an action against President Asif Ali Zardari and all the Governors for not presenting governments’ progress report in the Parliament and provincial assemblies.

The petitioner had stated that under article 29 (3) of the constitution, all the provincial governors and the president were liable to present progress reports in the Parliament and provincial assemblies.

The LHC registrar office rejected the petition by objecting that no application could be moved against the president.
