Additional Attorney General Abdul Hai Gillani on Saturday that no contempt notice had been issued to President Asif Ali Zardari in the dual office case.

Talking to journalists, he said some private TV channels had aired tickers that contempt notice had been issued to the president.

He clarified the Lahore High Court had nothing to do with such tickers. Moreover, he said the contempt petition was at its preliminary stage and it had not yet decided whether it was maintainable or not.

“The full bench has not so far decided whether any proceeding could be initiated or not,” he added.

The additional attorney general said it was irresponsible reporting, adding that in the February 15 order there was no mention of contempt notice and the next hearing was on March 8.
