Responding to the US threat of sanctions against the Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, Minister of State for Water and Power Tasneem Ahmad Qureshi on Saturday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would not care for threats of foreign powers in its quest to complete Zulfikar Bhutto’s mission.
Talking to party workers and office holders at People’s Secretariat the state minister said the PPP government had always taken decisions in best national interest and had never compromised on the sovereignty of the country.
Qureshi said, “We are soldiers and followers of Zulfikar Bhutto who had sacrificed his life for the country, public rights and democracy but never compromised on the interest of the country.”
He said the present government, despite international pressure, had signed an agreement with Iran on the gas pipeline project to fulfill the needs of the country.
“We have not accepted pressure on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline and signed an agreement with Iran as Pakistan is facing an energy crisis,” he added.
