Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) senior central leader and Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi said corruption and embezzlements in flop schemes and “shaikh chilli” projects in Punjab during the past 5 years will be exposed by third-party audits. Addressing a large public gathering in Hafizabad on Friday, Elahi demanded that an independent audit of funds received through foreign investments during his tenure be compared with the present government’s report card, accusing the present PML-N government of misappropriation worth billions of rupees. He claimed Shahbaz Sharif’s tenure as the chief minister (CM) was marred by closure of four thousand schools of the poor, reduction in the school-going number of boys and girls and discontinuation of welfare projects initiated during PML-Q’s government. These facts, said Elahi, served as ample proof of the present government’s corruption. “We do not sing songs,” said Elahi, “but serve people on the ground, for a brighter Punjab and Pakistan.” Elahi said their mission was not a personal one against a particular individual or party and they did not want people to become victims of political vengeance. He said his party wanted to serve people at large without any discrimination because their intentions were good. He said Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had served two terms each as the CM of Punjab but had allocated only Rs one billion for development of Hafizabad in all these years. In contrast, during his only tenure as CM, Elahi said he had provided development funds of Rs one billion for the people of Hafizabad, and a thousand kilometre long road. He challenged the “Khadam-e-A’ala” to compare his works with “my record development works”.
