The extradition of former Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairman Tauqeer Sadiq from the United Arab Emirates has been delayed after his appearance in a court here.
The former OGRA chief is allegedly involved in Rs 82 billion scam and is wanted in the case. He was presented before the Abu Dhabi court on Thursday where the court had to deliver Sadiq’s deportation orders, but the court ordered him to appear again on March 9.
Two officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) are currently in Dubai to bring the accused back, but now after the court’s order, the matter of Sadiq’s extradition from the UAE has apparently been delayed.
Sources told that only after the legal formalities are solved, Sadiq would be handed over to the Pakistani High Commission after which he would be brought back. Dubai Interpol team is likely to hand over Sadiq to Pakistani Interpol team.
Following the court’s orders, the Pakistani High Commission will issue Tauqeer Sadiq’s “out-pass”, but due to weekly holidays of Friday and Saturday in UAE, it is likely that the High Commission will remain open to issue Tauqeer Sadiq’s out-pass. Sources had told earlier that the former OGRA chief was likely to be extradited to Pakistan in the next 24 to 36 hours.

Media is crook like any other segment of society. But they have a big advantage. They can ridicule everybody and spare themselves. Just compare the mild manner in which mediapersons briefly mention their blunders. But when it come to others, they seem to be in a race of using superlatives. Scum!!!
In fact this newspaper (Pakistan Today) also carried the news of his arrival in Islamabad even giving the flight no. by which he arrived. My gut feeling is that his partners in crime (after all he is not alone in scooping up that 82 billions) will never let any harm happen to him – either in Pakistan or else where.
