LAHORE – Punjab Health Parliamentary Secretary Saeed Elahi on Sunday advised doctors to observe their code of conduct and restrain from holding strikes, as it increases problems of poor patients. He said that the profession of doctors is noble in which saving the lives of the people is the foremost duty of the doctors.
Saeed said that the Punjab CM has given the approval for releasing salaries of nurses and doctors on time and there would be no deduction from their previous increments. He said that a special package is being prepared for the salaries of doctors, for which Rs 16 to 18 billion would be required. The parliamentary secretary said that the recent floods left a negative impact on the economy and the Punjab government would increase the salaries of doctors gradually.
He asked doctors not to forget the miseries of ailing patients during the struggle for their rights and adopt the path of negotiations with the Punjab government instead organising strikes for acceptance of their demands. Saeed said that the Punjab government values the services of young doctors and the CM is serious to resolve the problems of various segments of society.
He hoped that doctors would not observe strikes by showing a sense of responsibility and assured that the provincial government would resolve their problems on a priority basis.
