The Punjab Health department has restored the services of 35 young doctors who were suspended during the recent strike in Lahore.
The decision came after negotiations between Punjab government and Young doctors association Punjab.
According to a notification, the restored doctors were associated with Jinnah hospital, Services hospital, Mayo hospital, Children hospital and Nishter hospital of Multan.
The doctors were sacked for provoking their colleagues and holding strikes in public hospitals following the Gujranwala incident.
After successful talks with the Chief Minister (CM), the doctors ended their hunger strike while the government restored the protesting doctors.
It is important to mention that the inquiry launched against the doctors involved in Gujranwala torture case has not been withdrawn as yet.
This is totally wrong step by Punjab Govt. These doctors should be treated like adult and not like kids. Once you do that they do not learn from their mistakes. The net result will be , they are going to repeat their same behavior in future. Because they are not punished for bad behavior this time.
They must have been suspended permanently to prevent this kind of behavior in future.
Same thing for Gujranwala case doctors, if you do not follow the case in the court and do not put them in jail ,then there is no punishment so you could expect, history will repeat itself.
This is the major difference between devolving world and western countries . They follow the rule of law and implement it too. Mr Shahbaz Sharif knows it . He has lived out side Pakistan for number of years.
