The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday reserved judgment on the review petitions filed by the convicts in the Pervez Musharraf attack case against the commutation of their  life imprisonment into death sentence.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the review petition on Thursday.

Counsel for the Ministry Of Defence, Mujib ur Rehman presented the record and the details about the accused.

He acknowledged that enhancement in the sentence of one of the accused, Naveed, was a mistake.

The counsel said the sentence could be enhanced under article 133-b of the constitution and the appellate court had such powers.

The convicts, Rana Naveed and Aamir Sohail, were allegedly involved in an attack on Pervez Musharraf. Rana Naveed and Aamir Sohail were sentenced to life term in jail which was later enhanced into capital punishment by the defence ministry.
