President Asif Ali Zardari would stop over in Quetta on Thursday for a few hours after returning to Pakistan from a two day official visit to Tehran.
The president was earlier scheduled to land in Quetta on Tuesday but extended his schedule in Iran for unforeseen reasons.
The president would hold meetings with parliamentary leaders of the Balochistan Assembly. Lifting of governor’s rule is also an agenda of the talks Pakistan Today Learnt.
The federal government had imposed governor’s rule in Balochistan after removing the coalition government headed by Nawab Aslam Raisani , sighting a deteriorating law and order situation. Sources said that President Zardari would take a decision regarding formation of a new coalition government in the province before March 14. The two-month period slated for governor’s rule would end on March 14.
The president has already directed federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek to complete legal formalities for lifting of governor’s rule and election of new leaders of the house and the opposition in the provincial assembly.
After passage of 18th Constitutional Amendment, it has been mandated to choose usher in a care taker set up only after consultations with Leaders of the Houses and the Leaders of the Oppositions.
The president would also meet delegations of Ulema hailing from different schools of thought. Zardari would also call on representatives of the Hazara community.
