Irked over banning of two cross LoC trading firms after recovery of AK rounds in their goods, Cross LoC Traders Association in Poonch decided to suspend the trade to mark their protest.
No Truck reached Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) Ranger Nallah for security frisking which clearly indicates that no Indian truck was dispatched to Azad Kashmir.
Sources in the Traders Association said that if any truck from Azad Kashmir reaches TFC, they will not realize it and the officers have to send it back to Azad Kashmir.
“This was our decision after Indian the authorities decided to ban two firms,” said an Indian trader preferring anonymity. He said they are demanding revocation of the notice which was issued by Indian authorities last week.
The trader added that it was a wrong decision of administration and it must be revoked. Security agencies have found rusted AK rounds or in live form many a time from the consignment of many traders but banning only two firms is not fair.
“We did not want to compromise with security issue but as per SOP after brief scrutiny of goods imported from Azad Kashmir, authorities have to hand over the goods to traders. The authorities overruled SOP,” he added.
Pawan Anand President Traders Association said that it was decision of common traders and he has not asked anyone to abstain from trade. He said traders are concerned with the issue that’s why they have taken the decision.
