The MUFAP’s first hard ball T20 Cricket Tournament, which started from December 8, 2012 was well received and enjoyed in the asset management industry as this tournament encouraged fun, interaction and bonding between member companies.

The event brought together 12 teams split into two groups, Group A and Group B, of 6 each. The participating members included Atlas Asset Management, Al Meezan Investment Management, Arif Habib Investments, Central Depository Company (CDC), MUFAP, HBL Asset Management, JS Investments, Pak Oman Asset Management, NBP Fullerton Asset Management (NAFA), National Investment Trust (NIT), IGI Investments and UBL Fund Managers. Held on Saturdays, each team played 5 group matches. After the completion of group stage, four teams qualified for the semi-final. The top two from Group A included HBL Asset and NIT. The top two from Group B included NAFA and Al Meezan.

HBL Asset and NAFA qualified for the finals which was held on February 23, 2013 at National Stadium, Karachi. HBL Asset won the match by 9 wickets. NAFA after winning toss decided to bat, making 143 runs for 7 in 20 overs. HBL Asset chased the target of 144 runs in 14.3 overs. Emmad Hashmi of HBL Asset was declared the Man of the Match scoring 92 runs (not out).

Wazir Ali Khoja, Managing Director of National Investment Trust Limited was the chief guest at the occasion.

Tanweer Ahmed Haral of Arif Habib Investments was declared the Best Batsman of the Series, Sundeep Kumar of CDC was declared the Best Bowler of the Series, Rehan Shaikh of HBL Asset was declared the Best All Rounder of the Series and Nadir Akbar of HBL Asset was declared the Best Wicket Keeper of the Series. Man of the Series was Muhammad Idrees of NAFA.

PICIC Asset Management was the platinum/lead sponsor of the tournament and Central Depository Company (CDC) is the co/Gold sponsor of the tournament. The Silver Sponsors include Al Meezan Investment Management, Arif Habib Investments, HBL Asset Management, NAFA and UBL Funds. NIT sponsored the awards for Man of Matches and Series Awards including Man of the Series, Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Best All Rounder.
