The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Coordination Committee has termed the analysis on a private TV channel about serious differences between the MQM leadership and Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan over the latter’s resignation. It termed the analysis as baseless, highly speculative and misleading.
A statement issued from the MQM Coordination Committee here on Tuesday said that certain elements were trying to create misconceptions in the minds of the MQM workers over its political differences with the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP). These elements were trying to propagate that MQM chief Altaf Hussain no longer wanted Dr Ishrat to hold the office of Sindh Governor under any condition.
The Coordination Committee said that such malicious analyses were part of a disinformation campaign launched against the MQM and had nothing to do with reality. This was being done to create restlessness in the rank and file of the MQM and confusion in the minds of the people.
Furthermore, the Coordination Committee said that that Dr Ishrat enjoyed full confidence of Altaf. The news that Altaf wanted to remove Dr Ishrat from his office were totally unfounded.
The Coordination Committee said that the MQM was a democratic political party in which all political decisions were taken collectively after threadbare discussions. As far as the resignation of Dr Ishrat was concerned, it was a decision based upon the call of his own conscience, committee members added.
The Coordination Committee requested MQM workers and the general public not to lend ear to the circulating rumours.
