US contractor sent to jail on remand

PESHAWAR – A US national, said to be a former security contractor, arrested under the Foreigners Act from Peshawar on Friday was sent to prison on a judicial remand by a local court on Saturday. Erin Mark De Heaven, was arrested under Section 14 of the Foreign Act by the security personnel from outside a fast food restaurant on University Road.
After hearing the prosecution, the judge sent De Heaven on a judicial remand to Central Jail Peshawar. Prison authorities claimed of putting De Heaven behind bars along with routine under-trial prisoners.
De Heaven was issued a Pakistani visa on January 16, 2010, which expired on October 23 last year. Police said the foreigner had embraced Islam and was living with his Muslim spouse in a posh residential area of Peshawar.
