Public security is top administrative priority: Hashim

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said the security of Karachiites, including common citizens and members of business and trade communities was among his top most administrative priorities.
Chairing a meeting on Monday he extensively reviewed security measures adopted for the protection of citizens against criminals and extortionists.
The meeting, also attended by senior officials, agreed that the scheme to install CCTVs throughout the city and a close network among all law enforcing agencies and security apparatus would be expedited and streamlined soon.
Hashim directed the officials to ensure that the network of CCTVs was put into place at all thoroughfares, petrol pumps and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations, business centres, recreational sites, places of worship besides all entry and exit points of the metropolis.
He further said government departments along with trade and commerce associations were presently in the process of procuring CCTV cameras and all of would be of the same specification so as to make them adequately functional under single “command and control system”.
This command and control system had been setup with the focal office being established on the premises of the Commissioner’s office.
The Karachi Commissioner was informed that Karachi police had already installed 960 CCTVs at 164 different sites while business community had also pledged to provide 4,000 CCTVs to ensure their security.
