Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif on Sunday said the split between the MQM and PPP was another drama ahead of the coming polls, adding that he was not sure if the separation was real or fake.
Talking to reporters at the residence of a PML-N office-bearer, Nawaz said the move could be a drama aimed at bringing a caretaker Sindh chief minister of their choice.
The PML-N chief said that he could not tolerate hypocrisy and urged the PPP to stop politics of hypocrisy in Sindh.
He said the PPP distributed sweets following the promulgation of Local Bodies Bill, then annulled it and again distributed sweets.
“They should tell what is real and what is not,” he added. “There are no high moral grounds in politics anymore.”
Regarding the MQM, he said after being in alliance for four years and eleven months with the PPP, its separation was not understandable.
“The MQM has quit the government only 15 days ahead of the end of its tenure and its opting for the opposition at this stage is a riddle for me,” he said.
“All will be clear after the installation of a caretaker set-up,” he opined.
To a question, Nawaz said all those desirous of party tickets were being scrutinised under Articles 62, 63 of the constitution.
He said more than half of the scrutiny would be done through forms, while the rest would be carried out by the ECP.
“We expelled a member of parliament after he was caught cheating in exams.”
Nawaz emphasised that Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution must be implemented in the forthcoming elections, so that real representatives of the people could make it to parliament.
To a question relating the change of political loyalties, he said that he was not luring anyone, instead the people fed up with PPP were joining his party.
Explaining his party’s votes to the prime minister, Nawaz clarified that the votes were not given for the love of the PPP, but for the country.
He said the PPP could have done a lot in the past five years, but it failed to do anything for the masses and the country.
He said his party had full confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan for holding free and fair elections.
