Strong democracy vital to meet challenges: PM

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that strong democracy and parliament are imperative to find solution to multidimensional challenges faced by the country.

Addressing a ceremony at Government College Hyderabad‚ he said the whole nation should stand united to confront the challenges of terrorism‚ extremism‚ law and order and the energy crisis. He appealed the students to reject hatred and promote the message of peace and brotherhood for progress and prosperity of the country.

He said “it is for the first time that a democratic government is completing its five year term. It is a big achievement for the people of Pakistan. We executed an unprecedented number of revolutionary projects in the 65 year history of the country. We devolved powers to the provinces and gave them provincial autonomy. Similarly‚ the PPP government gave jobs to the jobless and it will continue to follow the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in future as well.”

Refreshing his memories of education in the college‚ he said this institution has made great contributions in the education sector. He announced 500 million rupees for renovation and expansion projects of the college.
