The Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat of the National Assembly (NA) has taken notice of non-removal of the katchi abadis (slums) in Sector I-11 of the federal capital and summoned a meeting on Monday.
The committee instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to get the sector vacated from land grabbers and dwellers of slums, and give possession of the plots to the respective allottees, waiting to take possession of their plots for the last 23 years, after completing development work in the sector.
The CDA told the committee that the civic authority had planned to conduct an operation to remove the slums from Sector I-11 from February 6 to 11 and it had served notices on 864 land grabbers. The civic body failed to conduct the operation as Islamabad police could not assist the civic body in the operation between the dates.
