Investigations into the rape and murder case of a teen girl student in the federal capital point to the alleged involvement of the ill-fated girl’s tutor, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Eleven-year-old Shahzadi’s incinerated body was found in a ditch in Sector I-9/1 on Feb 16, three days after she was reported missing from her home in Bhara Kahu. Shahzadi had been gang-raped and murdered before the unidentified assailants set her body on fire. The child’s parents registered a case against the tutor Mehak Qaiser, her father Qaiser Ali and brother Shan Qaiser.
Police investigators said that after perusing Mehak’s attendance record at the university, they found out that she had been attending her Masters classes regularly but had taken a day off on Feb 13, the day when Shahzadi was abducted. Although Mehak is on pre-arrest bail until Feb 26, the investigators intend to arrest her as soon as her bail expires to dig out the missing links in the case.
Officials privy to the investigation said that they had sufficient evidence to suggest that the 11-year-old was transported from Bhara Kahu to an industrial area where she was raped and then murdered.
On Thursday, the police produced Qaiser Ali and Shan Qaiser before Civil Judge Ayesha Shabbir and sought three-day extension in their physical remand which was granted.
Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of the case after the incident was highlighted in the media.
