LAHORE – A Bible-centered debate was organized by Shekinah Ministries the other day in which Christians from five denominations (Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, Pentecostal) joined together to explore the Biblical aspects of arranged and love marriage. This is the first time ever that such an issue has been examined in light of Christian religious views. Two teams were formulated, one for each stance.
The winning participants were: Aesnath Naeem, Nasir Sarfaraz, Ayesha Sarfraz, Maria Khokhar, Emmanuel Sadique and Ravish Zahid while the best debater trophy went to Ayesha Sarfraz who spoke in favour of love marriage. The event was lead by Col Ernest Shams and the panel of judges included Sister Bargitta Almery, Dr Daniel Crawley, Rev Haroon Bhatti and Dr Tahira Saleem.
Dr Daniel from USA felt that the topic was “indeed very enlightening”. He said that such issues must be discussed openly since they represent real life dilemmas faced by today’s Pakistani youth. The event was organized by Rev Asher Saleem.
