Widespread rain, snowfall across country during next three days

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday forecasted widespread rain with snowfall in most parts of the country during next two to three days.

According to PMD, western winds would enter Pakistan through Balochistan which would cause intermittent rain and snowfall in the mountainous regions of Islamabad, Balochistan, Upper Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from Thursday to Saturday.

Murree, Galiyat, Malakand, Hazara Division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir were expected to receive rain and snowfall on Friday and Saturday.

The Met Office said that the new spell of rain and snowfall would increase intensity of cold across the country and would disrupt road links in the upper parts of the country.

During the last 24 hours, Qalat received 12mm of rain, Dera Ghazi Khan and Parachinar 9mm, Larkana 7mm, Khuzdar 6mm, Sukkur and Rohri 4mm, while Jacobabad and Lower Dir received 3mm of rain.

During this time, minimum temperatures recorded in different cities were: Parachinar 7C, Gopes and Kalam 4C, Astore, Skardu and Malam Jabba 3C and Hunza 2C.
