Lawyers ransack sessions’ court in Faisalabad

A group of lawyers, protesting for formation of the High Court bench in Faisalabad, ransacked the sessions’ court and damaged furniture and other assets after one of their colleague attempted self immolation.
According to details, the sit-in and protest of the lawyers’ community at Kutchery Bazaar Chowk continued for the ninth consecutive day on Wednesday.
During the sit-in on Wednesday, a lawyer tried self immolation after which the protesting lawyers, running high on emotions, forcibly entered the court. The lawyers wrecked havoc at a canteen situated in the premises and also damaged furniture at the court. The staff of the court fled the scene to avoid any harm to their person. The protesting lawyers also besieged the DCO office. Later, police intervened and forced them out of the buildings. The lawyers have however continued with their protest.
