The police carried out the raids on the on the directives of District and Session Court. The freed peasants were produced in the court which pronounced all of them as free.
Per details, three petitioners Natharam Kolhi, Terrath Kolhi and Duro Bheel approached the court and sought the recovery of their families. Later, the court directed Samaro and Kunri police to recover 141 bonded labourers.
Kunri and Samaro police raided the agricultural farm of landlord Musadiq Arain (ASI police department) and recovered 39 bonded laborers including 9 women and 22 children. Another raid was conducted by Samaro police on the agricultural farm of Kashif Qaimkhani, from where the police recovered 54 bonded labourers, including 9 women and 35 children. The Third raid was conducted by Kunri police on the agricultural land of Yaseen Jatt from where 45 bonded labourers including 10 women and 28 children were recovered.
All the recovered bonded labourers were produced in the court of additional district and session judge Umerkot, which allowed them their free will.
The landlords plead in the court that they had fed the peasants during floods when their crops were destroyed; therefore their loans are outstanding against the peasants. The court replied that the landlords file suits in civil courts for the recovery of any amount outstanding against the peasants.
