Some of those protesting in Karachi against the killings of Hazara community in Quetta have started looting the innocent masses on roads that too in the presence of law enforcement agencies, it has been learnt reliably.
The incidents of looting were reported from Malir where some people tried to cross the sit-in at Shara-e-Faisal near Star Gate but they were beaten-up brutally and later deprived of their belongings. Interestingly, these incidents are taking place in the presence of police and Rangers but they play a role of silent spectators.
The protesters blocked the city’s busiest artery Shara-e-Faisal at Star Gate for vehicular traffic. The road was blocked from point to point at Malir 15, Kalaboard and Star Gate. When some people using rout of the airport tried to reach other parts of the city, they were looted after being subjected to torture.
I came Malir last night to attend wedding of my cousin but due to prevailing law and order situation, I could not went back to my house, said Asad, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
“Today afternoon, I tried to move my house by using the Airport Road but when I reached near the airport security force (ASF) residential point, some protesters stopped me and beat me up brutally, he said, adding they also looted my cell-phone and Rs 5,000 cash.”
“When I went to Rangers who were standing few yards away to lodge my complaint, they advised me to leave the place instead of taking some action against the looters,” he added.
Another motorcyclist narrated his story as under: “My name is Rajab Ali and I am resident of Pehlwan Goth. I came to Kalaboard to see my relatives but on the way back to my house I was looted by protesters. They also torched my motorcycle in front of Rangers but they did not stop enraged people from committing this offence. I requested the personnel of paramilitary force to save my vehicle but they turned a deaf ear to my request. Rangers further added that they were deployed here for protection of the protesting people”, Rajab added.
