At least 10 persons were killed and several others injured in fresh spate of violence in various areas of the metropolis on Sunday. The law enforcement agencies arrested several criminals and recovered arms and drugs from their possession.
According to details, unidentified gunmen barged into a house located in Surjani Town area and opened indiscriminate fire on the residents killing an 18-year youth and fled from the scene after committing murder.
At Banaras Chourangi area of the city, some unknown armed assailants shot dead a young man. The body was shifted to mortuary for post-mortem where identity of the deceased was yet to be confirmed.
The police said body of an unidentified teen age girl was found floating in the sea near Neti Jetty.
Three bodies were found from Zaman Town, Korangi and Malir River and two bodies at Kharadar, who were kidnapped, murdered and thrown away, police said.
A tortured-to-death-body trussed up in a bag was found from Mauripur Road, while two persons sustained injuries by gunshots in Ghani Chowrangi and Landhi areas.
Armed persons torched three buses including one wagon near Ancholi Society, at Jinnah Square, Malir and Jahangirabad areas.
Firing incidents continued in Lyari, Malir, Sohrab Goth, Shah Faisal Colony, Mauripur, Landhi and other localities during which 12 persons were reported injured. The injured were shifted to various hospitals of concerned areas where condition of some wounded people was stated to be serious.
Meanwhile, rangers and police continued operations in different areas of the city during which more than 10 criminals involved in murders, robberies, kidnapping, pickets looting and other crimes were nabbed. Arms and drugs were also recovered from the possession of detainees.
