Prime Minister (PM) Raja Pervez Ashraf on Friday asked party fellows in Sind to immediately address reservations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and said that the consultation process on an interim setup in the country would be initiated soon.
Ashraf stated this during a meeting with Sind Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, who met the premier at the Sind Governor House.
Discussing the overall political situation in Sind prior to the upcoming elections, the PM said that the interim setup would be introduced in consultation with all stakeholders.
The consultation process, he said, would be started soon so that general election could be held per schedule.
He said his government was leaving no stone unturned to serve the people, adding that the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was maintaining a strong political bond with its coalition partners, including the MQM.
The PM was appreciative when the provincial education minister apprised him about Sind Assembly taking precedence over other federating units in giving legal cover to free and mandatory basic education.
According to sources, MQM’s reservations over the alleged withdrawal of cases against Lyari’s Amn Committee leaders also came under discussion during the meeting.
