Everyone who’s anyone knows that The Voice Season 4 premieres on March 25, 2013 with new coaches Usher and Shakira. But how much do we really know about these newbies? In addition to sharing eternal love, Shakira and her soccer star BF Gerard Pique have the same birthday — Feb. 2. The real shocker? Shakira is exactly 10 years older than her main man. Her baby daddy is a mere 26 years old, while Shak is a youthful 36. Get it, gurl!
2) Shakira Has Two Grammys and Eight Latin Grammys
Though she didn’t make her big break until the release of her album Laundry Service in 2001, Shakira’s music career has been going strong since the early ‘90s. In that time she’s picked up eight Latin Grammys and two Grammys in the U.S.
3) “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” Is the Biggest Selling World Cup Song of All Time
Remember when everyone just wanted to belly dance and sing about Africa? Good times. Well, Shakira’s anthem not only represented the 2010 World Cup, but it also ended up being the best selling World Cup anthem of all time.
4) Shakira Founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation
If her Unicef baby shower campaign was any indication, this pop star loves to give back. In 1997 she founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation — a Colombian charity with specialty schools for poor children in the country. The foundation got its name from Shakira’s third album — Pies Descalzos.
5) Shakira has appeared on the shows Ugly Betty and Wizards of Waverly Place
Step back, Adam Levine. Shakira was into acting plenty of years before American Horror Story was even invented! Granted, the pop star played herself, but she did it well.
