Elections won’t be delayed at any cost: PM

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has directed the law minister to ensure that the constitution and law were followed in letter and spirit in the run up to the next election, so that there was no room for any delay in the upcoming polls.
The prime minister was talking to Farooq H Naik who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday and gave him a comprehensive briefing about the role of the Election Commission and measures taken by the government to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
During the meeting they also discussed the current situation in the backdrop of parleys with leaders of PML-Q and reviewed the overall arrangements of the election process in the country.
The prime minister appreciated the efforts made by the Ministry of Law, particularly Farooq H Naik in the preparation of Fair Trial Bill and its successful passage by both Houses of parliament.
