The KESC and the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation (AKHMCF) have signed contract agreements with M/s Siemens Pakistan for establishment of a 132KV GIS grid station at AKHMCF premises at a total cost of Rs 681 million. A KESC statement here on Monday said that the grid station would be jointly shared by the KESC and the AKHMCF. It said that at the contract signing meeting, KESC was represented by Chief Generation and Transmission Officer Syed Arshad Masood Zahidi while AKHMCF was represented by Planning and Development Director General Karim Nur Mohamed. The new grid station would allow reliable supply of electricity to the AKHMCF, given the vital nature of its healthcare services being provided to patients, in addition to KESC consumers. It would also improve the system reliability and stability by enhancing the KESC’s installed capacity from 4,573 MVA to 4,653 MVA with the addition of three power transformers. The new grid station would also cater to the future needs of AKHMCF, where energy demand was expected to grow up to16 megawatts by the year 2022. Furthermore, it would relieve the overloaded grid stations of the Civic Centre, Baloch Colony and Gulshan Iqbal and would also partially meet the requirement of future load growth in PECHS, Bahadurabad area, KDA scheme-I and adjoining areas.
