The Supreme Court on Monday granted a week’s time to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Fasih Bokhari to engage a counsel in the contempt of court case.
The three-member bench of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed deferred proceedings on the issuance of a notice to the NAB chairman in the case related to hearing of the implementation of its verdict of March 30 2012, in rental power plants (RPPs).
Bokhari appeared and requested the bench to grant him sufficient time so that he could engage a counsel in the case.
The chief justice told him that the issue was very important one.
He also told NAB’s Prosecutor General Karim Khan Agha that his contention regarding objections would be heard on the next hearing.
The bench turned down a request by KK Agha for constitution of a larger bench, as the chief justice said there was no reason to expand the bench. On January 31, the bench had issued a notice to the NAB chairman under Article 204 of the constitution and Section 3 of the Contempt of Court Ordinance 2003 to appear in person on February 4 and submit a reply over the issue of writing a letter to higher authorities.
The bench in its order observed that whatever the NAB chairman had expressed in his letter was tantamount to interfering in and obstructing court process.

  1. If stern and proper had been taken against those who found convicted and culprits immediately,no one tries to SUPERSEDE THE ORDERS OF HONORABLE SUPREME COURT UNLUCKILY MOST OF HEADS OF SOME DEPARTMENTS ARE FROM RETIRED PERSONNEL BY THE RULING PARTY.HENCE THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR SUPREME COURT..IF POOR EMPLOYEES ARE FOUND OR DECLARED VICTIMIZED ARE AT ONCE REMOVED WITH STRICT ACTIONS,WHY SO MUCH GAP AND DIFFERENCE
