The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued a contempt notice to Young Doctors Association (YDA) for defying a court’s order against strike.

The LHC also asked for reply from the Punjab Health Department for its failure to initiate action against the protesting doctors.

A petition, filed by Judicial Activism Panel, argued that doctors were still on strike over Gujranwala issue despite the repeated court orders to stop protests.

According to the applicant, doctors are absent from hospitals, where there are reports of deaths due to measles.

Issuing contempt notices to YDA leaders Dr. Amir Bandesha and Hamid Butt, the court summoned para-wise comments.

In addition, the LHC sought replies of Health Secretary and PMDC for their failure to act against the doctors.

  1. Criminal cases must proceed against the doctors in the Gujranwala case. In the mean time health dept should cancel their medical licenses permanently.
