Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday dismissed an appeal over a petition related to the extension of Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, a local TV channel reported.

A two-judge bench of the IHC comprising Justice Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui took up an application filed by a legal adviser to the Ex-Servicemen Society.

Earlier in Sept 2012, a petition was filed against army chief’s extension of service which was dismissed by the court citing Section 3, Article 199 of the Constitution.

The current petition was an intra-court appeal against the September’s order.

The petition contended that General Kayani was not subject to the Army Act, 1952, as he had attained 60 years of age on April 20, 2012.

  1. Now that the ex-servicemen society has made an ass of itself; it might as well disband in the larger interest of the service.
