The Islamabad Chief Commissioner on Wednesday allowed exhumation of Kamran Faisal’s body as suggested by Punjab Forensic Agency for an independent examination.
Following the recommendations of the Punjab Forensic Agency, the City Zone SP had, the other day, sent a letter to Deputy Commissioner’s and Commissioner’s Office seeking approval to exhume Kamran Faisal’s corpse.
On Wednesday, the Chief Commissioner approved the letter sent by police and allowed exhumation of Faisal’s body. In addition to this, police sources said the Punjab Forensic Agency also requested Islamabad Police to hand over all important pieces of evidence, such as the belt and the ceiling fan, with which Faisal’s body was found hanging.
Punjab Forensic Laboratory, through a letter dated 26-1-2013, had recommended exhumation of Faisal’s body. The laboratory also demanded custody of the belt and other pieces of evidence to ascertain whether Kamran committed suicide. The police officer said that on request of the said laboratory, the specific evidence pieces were being provided.
The officer said that the exhumation of the body will be conducted under the supervision of the magistrate of the area where the body is buried.
