LAHORE – Fire erupted at Punjabi Complex at the Qaddafi Stadium late on Wednesday. Administration office of the complex engulfed in fire, which erupted owing to short circuiting in a generator installed there. Room furniture and five computers worth thousands of rupees were burnt. The security guard called the Rescue 1122 which later extinguished fire. Fire claimed no life neither an injury was reported. Punjabi Complex is a research center, an auditorium and an art gallery.
SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide in Factory Area police precincts on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mariyam (25), a citizen of Balochistan. She married an ‘imam masjid’ (prayer leader), Abdul Haseeb, a year ago and shifted to Lahore. The couple was not happy after marriage and kept quarrelling over domestic issues.
Yesterday, Mariyam had a scuffle with her husband. She was distressed and she locked herself in a room, where she hung herself with the ceiling fan and choked. Her husband broke in the room and found her swinging by the fan. Police arrested Haseeb and the body was shifted to the morgue for autopsy, and later handed over to its heirs.
ACCIDENT: Seven people including two women were injured when a car tuned turtle in Iqbal Town police precincts late on Wednesday. Ali, Zain, Harmain, Aisha and Saba were heading home on a Suzuki car (No: LOR-2525). When they crossed the main square in the Asif Block, car driver Aamir lost control of the car, which turned turtle and crashed against a footpath. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to Sheikh Zaid Hospital, where Aisha and Harmain’s condition is told to be serious, while the others’ condition is stable.
Five injured as two groups clash at sessions court: Around five people were injured when two rival groups opened indiscriminate firing during hearing of a love marriage murder case at the sessions court on Thursday, Online adds. According to media reports, the incident took place outside the court of Additional Sessions Judge Bushra Rehman, during the murder case hearing of Rabia Khan, who had married Husnain Ijaz one year ago without consent of her parents and was killed three months ago. During the hearing, unidentified people, related to Rabia, entered the court and opened firing at the other group injuring five people.
