At least twelve peacocks have died during the last 10 days here due to a contagious disease. According to reports from the affected area, the peacocks died of Newcastle disease, locally known as Ranikhet while several others have also been reported to be infected. The disease-inflicted birds had stopped drinking water a few days ago. The wildlife department in Sukkur has confirmed the deaths of 12 peacocks.
