Tauqir Sadiq arrested in Dubai

Tauqir Sadiq, the former chairman of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) wanted in a mega corruption scandal, has been arrested in Dubai, reports said on Tuesday. Sadiq has been taken into custody in Dubai, UAE, by a special team of CID headed by Rana Shahid. The team comprises two senior police officials and an official from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Sources confirmed that Sadiq was currently in the custody of the CID team, adding that the accused would soon be handed over to the Pakistani consulate in Dubai. Moreover, negotiations over his deportation to Pakistan are currently underway with UAE authorities, the sources said. The Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered NAB for the arrest of Tauqir Sadiq, who is accused of misusing authority, embezzling funds and causing a Rs 82 billion loss to the national exchequer.
