WB delegation visits Sindh Madressatul Islam University

A delegation of the World Bank headed by Naseer Rana visited Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Monday. According to a SMIU statement issued here on Monday, other members of the delegation included World Bank Consultant Nazar Hussain Mahar and World Bank Deputy Consultant Dr Iffat Idris.
They held a meeting with SMIU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Mohammad Ali Shaikh at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat.
Dr Mohammad briefed the delegation about the activities of the SMIU, development works undertaken by the institute and its future plans.
He also informed them that presently SMIU had opened five departments, including Media Studies, Computer Science, Business Administration, Education and Environmental Studies, while more departments would soon be established in the university.
Dr Mohammad also said that the first batch of the university’s commenced from January 15. He further said that research work would be given priority in the SMIU. Dr Mohammad also said that a highly qualified faculty, including 16 PhDs, were committed to the cause of imparting quality education to students with the help of latest Information Technology (IT) facilities.
The SMIU VC also informed the World Bank delegation that SMIU was running classes for both boys and girls from primary to higher secondary level.
The delegation of the World Bank expressed gladness on the elevation of SMIU to the level of university and its efforts for imparting quality education to the youth of the country. Later, the delegation visited the Jinnah Museum and other sections of the university.
