KARACHI – The People’s Amn Committee (PAC) might be abolished on MQM’s demand and merged with the PPP’s Youth Wing, Pakistan Today has learnt. “It was not included in our explicit demands, but it would be better to abolish the PAC since it is a gang of criminals who are involved in extortion and the Sher Shah incident,” said MQM Rabita Committee member Waseem Aftab. Sources said that since the PAC is not formally affiliated with the PPP, no official announcement of PAC’s abolishment would be issued by the PPP.
During Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza’s visit to Lyari last Sunday, it was decided that the PAC would be disbanded, but its members would carry on their routine political activities. This process would be completed before the second phase of the federal cabinet’s expansion, and it is expected that after the MQM’s demand is met, the party might join the federal cabinet and two ministries would also be handed over to them.
