A blood donor bank has not been established in the city, despite Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s directives.
The Punjab government had announced a decision to establish blood donor data banks on a division level, so volunteers could be reached in case of crisis. Blood donor registration and the data bank are aimed at collecting data of the donors.
Sources in the commissioner’s office said no progress had been made towards the matter, nor had a blood camp been set to register volunteers.
A list of volunteer blood donors was supposed to be prepared, as the data would be useful for approaching volunteers in case of an emergency.
However, the chief minister’s directives in this matter have been ignored for reasons best known to the district government.
