WASA staff’s protest for raise in salaries continues

HAFIZABAD – The protest of Water Management Department’s employees, demanding increase in their salaries, entered the 8th day. The joint action committee leaders, Zafar Iqbal, Mazaffar Siddique and Amir Shahzad said the government was neither regularising employees nor was it raising their salaries though highly educated engineers, agriculture experts, sub-engineers and computer programmers, serving in the department.
They added that 2,200 families of these employees were facing mental and financial hardships in the province.
TRUCK DRIVER DIES IN ROAD ACCIDENT: A truck driver died while two female students were injured in separate incidents. In the first incident, a truck was standing on Jalalpur Road when another speedy truck hit it. As a result, truck driver Ghulam Murtaza died instantly.
In the second incident, two female students from Government Girls Primary School Ghari Gondal, five-year-old Fizza and six-year-old Shamsa were injured when the wall of a school collapsed.
DEMO AGAINST DAVIS’ LIKELY RELEASE: Khaksar Tehreek Hafizabad took out a rally, led by Divisional Salar Muhammad Mansoor, against the expected release of American citizen Raymond Davis, the killer of two Pakistanis. The participants were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against US and friends of the Americans.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hafizabad General Secretary Amanullah Chattha asked the government to hang the murderer of two innocent Pakistani citizens under the law of the land. He said it was also approved that Raymond Davis was an agent of CIA and was spying for America.
