LAHORE – The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Chairman Gohar Ejaz has urged the government to assure uninterrupted gas supply to the textile industry from March 01, 2011 onwards. He warned that the industry would suffer serious production losses if gas supply remains absent. He was leading a delegation of APTMA members in a meeting with SNGPL Managing Director Rashid Lone on Tuesday.
Gohar Ejaz expressed serious concerns over unprecedented gas supply suspension this winter, causing serious production losses. He said that gas supply to the textile industry is being denied for four days a week, contrary to ECC’s decision of disconnection for two days a week.
The decision had been made in a meeting held with the Prime Minister, in presence of Punjab chief minister, wherein APTMA chairman presented the case regarding supply of gas to the industry for five days a week in winter. Since gas shortage in winter on SNGPL system was around 600MMCFD, disconnection should not have been more than 15 percent if equal sharing had been ensured.
