As many as 18 security personnel were killed and another 21 were injured after militants attacked two convoys with improvised explosive devices in Razmak and Charsadda areas on Sunday.
An official at Miranshah headquarters said that condition of several injured soldiers was stated to be in danger. He said the convoy was on its way from Miranshah to Razmak. When the convoy reached at Gareeyom area of Tehsil Dosali it was hit by the IED. Two vehicles were completely destroyed in the explosion. The official so far confirmed 14 deaths and 21 injuries. The injured and bodies were airlifted to Miranshah and Bannu’s Combined Military Hospital. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
On every Sunday, contingents of security forces are shifted from one to another place via North Waziristan. The administration imposes curfew in this regard. On January 13, pamphlets were distributed in Miranshah and other parts of North Waziristan. The pamphlets carried info about a peace agreement between the government and militants. Meanwhile, as many as four security personnel were injured when a convoy came under IED attack in Charsadda. The injured included three army officials and one police official. Separately, seven people were injured when a passenger bus was blown up with an IED near Sadda Town in Kurram Agency. The Peshawar-bound vehicle was carrying 20 passengers, including women and children. The injured were later shifted to a nearby hospital.
