Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Friday inaugurated the Model town underpass and termed it as a gift for the citizens of Pakistan.
The CM unveiled the plaque of the underpass and passed through it with PMl-N workers flocking around him. The CM said that the project had cost Rs five billion to the national exchequer and hailed the project as a prototype of transparency. Addressing the gathering on the occasion Shahbaz assured that all development projects undertaken in Lahore would be completed soon. It was said that the Kalma Chowk underpass would be opened for traffic on February 15 and development work at MM Alam road was in its final stages.
The CM lamented that some political factions were belittling Muhammad Ali Jinnah to gain short term political advantages, underscoring that “Creation of Pakistan is an unprecedented achievement which the Quaid performed.” The CM expressed sorrow over Thursday’s deadly attack in Quetta and vowed to end violence in Karachi, Swat and Balochistn if PML-N was voted into the National assembly with a majority.
The CM added that those who were crticising the ongoing infrastructural projects of Punjab were insecure as they had done nothing for the uplift of masses during their reigns. He announced that the Metro Bus Service project would be made operational ‘soon’ and said that the project had cost Rs30 billion. He said the metro bus project would provide ‘comfortable, affordable and safe travelling facilities to the people’. Later the CM entertained the complaints of citizens against the police force. The CM said that hurdles in the way of justice would not be tolerated, adding, that the police force should act as a servant of the citizenry. He concluded “the government has provided billions of rupees to ensure law and order and protection of life and property of the citizens. Now it is responsibility of police to redress their grievances and be courteous to them at police stations,”
