Leader of the House in Senate Jehangir Badr on Sunday assured that free, fair and transparent elections would be held on time. He said it was a good omen that a democratic political party was about to complete its tenure for the first time in Pakistan’s political history. Badr said the caretaker government would be formed through consensus with all major political parties and the ballot was the only solution for strengthening democracy in the country. “Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is a party of the people, by the people and for the people. It has always struggled for their rights and sacrificed precious lives for the restoration and establishment of democracy in the country”, he said.
He also expressed hope that the PPP would sweep the next general elections with a heavy mandate.
