Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) President Zafar Bakhtawari expressed his reservations regarding the long march called by Tehreek-e-Minhaj ul Quran chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on January 14. The ICCI president urged Tahirul Qadari to call off the long march as it could create problems for the business community and other citizens of the federal capital. He said Islamabad has a population of 0.7 million while Qadri says that 4 million people will participate in the long march. “This would definitely damage the infrastructure of Islamabad and deteriorate the law and order situation in the federal capital,” he said. ICCI president said Islamabad is fully equipped with modern facilities and a large number of diplomats were present there. “Thus, any long march would portray a negative image of our country,” he said. He appealed to Tahirul Qadari to call off his long march or shift it to any other city as Islamabad was the face of Pakistan which should not be damaged at any cost.
