Malala Yousafzai has been announced as the recipient of the “2012 Tipperary International Peace Award” for her courage and determination to speak out in support of equal access to education for every child.
Yousafzai was one of the five nominees, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former Kenyan journalist John Githongo and Pax Christi International- the Catholic human rights and peace organisation. Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was given the same award in 2007.

  1. Govt decided to name a college on her name in Swat. Students of that college took to streets in protest against that decision. Funny isn't it? I wonder why many heavy weights in journalist community support her?
